My name is Pete Burdett. I was born and bred in Nuneaton and have supported The Boro for the best part of sixty years.
The first game that I can remember seeing at Manor Park was an FA Cup 3rd round replay when The Boro played Queens Park Rangers in the 1953/54 season, unfortunately we lost 2 – 1. I was taken there by my father, Michael, who for many years was a vice president of the club.
I have been retired now for almost three years, having spent most of my working life in engineering at Alfred Herberts, The Alvis and car production at The Jaguar.
Now I have more time on my hands I’m trying very hard to get my golf handicap down. Also for the last three months, along with other Boro supporters, I’ve been working on The Memorial Garden which, now its nearly reached completion,I think everyone will agree it has been worth all our hard efforts.
When I see the teams who once were our opponents playing in the football league I often wonder if, one day, I’ll see The Boro playing at that level. I sincerely hope I do.
